About Bubba
Bill O’Donnell was a big man with an even bigger heart. During his time on the football team, he earned the nickname "Bubba." The Foundation is aptly named after Bubba in order to accurately convey his spirit. The name “Bubba” is one that rings a generic familiarity within the football community as a name that shows love to and appreciation for the unsung heroes of the team.
Bubba grew up playing hockey in Bayonne NJ, and he didn’t play football until high school due to the weight
requirements of youth football at the time. When he arrived at Prep freshman year, he turned heads on the playing field. Bill was a multi-year starter in high school, but his senior year is when it all came together. One of four team captains, he was named 1st team All State. He was also named to the tri-state Heisman team, after the team finished 11-0 as the #1 ranked team in NJ & #6 nationally ranked by USA Today. Bill received a full scholarship to the University of Syracuse. In college, Bill was a multi-year starter at guard for the Orangemen playing alongside future NFL stars Keith Bulluck & Donovan McNabb. Bill played in 5 NCAA bowl games including the Orange & Fiesta Bowls.
Bill was enshrined to the Saint Peter’s Prep athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. During the acceptance speech his mother said that playing football was the highlight of Bill’s life both at Prep and Syracuse. Bill was taken from the world way too early at the age of 38. He was never married and had no children. This scholarship will keep his legacy alive and well. Bill was one of if not the best offensive linemen in the proud history of Saint Peter's Prep football. The focus of our charitable organization is to help grant young men the opportunity to walk the halls of Saint Peter’s Prep in order to provide an opportunity to make a better life for himself just like Bill did. Without the Prep experience, Bill does not succeed at Syracuse and beyond.

Bubba Fund Events
The Bubba Foundation has run numerous events to raise money in the past few years, but most recently the two signature events are Alumni Day & the Bubba Golf Outing. Aside from raising the necessary capital to have the Bill “Bubba” O’Donnell, ’95 scholarship become permanent at the school, the foundation has also donated additional funds to the football program.
