Prep vs Paramus Catholic Recap

It was a Friday night on Labor Day weekend, and Prep Football returned to action at Caven Point for the 2025 season after a long offseason. The Marauders started the season with a 42-26 win over Paramus Catholic with the offense and defense contributing to the victory.
The game started as an offensive shootout. Both teams scored on their first two possessions with Abdul Terry and Chris Horn scoring the first two touchdowns of the season. With the game at 14-13 in the first quarter because of a Paramus Catholic missed extra point after their second touchdown, the Prep defense forced a punt on the Paladins’ third drive of the game. The Marauders responded with a 10 yard rushing touchdown by Tyler Barksdale to give them a 21-13 lead.
On the first play of the second quarter the Paladins scored on a long 78 yard touchdown pass, but failed to score on the two-point conversion and the Marauders still led 21-19. Prep scored once again on a Hudson Prichard receiving touchdown, and went into the half up 28-19.
The second half began with the Marauders fumbling the ball. The Paladins capitalized off the turnover and scored a touchdown to cut the Prep lead to two points, 28-26. However, that would be the last time Paramus Catholic scored and the Prep defense stepped up the rest of the way. They had a big goal line stand to start the fourth quarter and forced a turnover on downs. The defense followed that up with another 3 and out, and a bad snap on the punt put the ball on the Paramus Catholic 3 yard line. Prep would score on the very next play with a rushing touchdown from Barksdale, and the Marauders led 35-26.
Prep put the finishing touches on both sides of the ball. The defense had a fumble recovery by Kyle Wise and interception by Jordan Rodriguez. While Aaren Cirino iced the game with a touchdown to make the final score 42-26. The Marauders begin the season 1-0, and their next game will be on September 6 where they will play Union City at 7 PM at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ.
